Next Generation of Digital Identity

While traditional paper based identity and digital identity share the same fundamentals and aim towards similar goals, they nevertheless have some significant differences. This paper provides a high level introduction to the fundamentals of Identity – its technical constituents, its requirements, and its risks. It closes with an explanation of how Project Liberty provides solutions to many of the issues raised by next generation digital identities.

This paper was written in collaboration with Jason Baragry, an Australian Sun college who get lost in Nordic country Cool it was published 2007 Telektronikk resarch  in  It is a high level paper about Liberty and Federated Identity concept. It  does not talk at all about protocols or any specification details, but focus more on the "why" identity federation is important and "why" Liberty alliance baked in privacy and interoperability inside its specifications. Target audience is more program managers and chief officers than C++ coders, even so, it may still have value for them to read it.
